I love playing the drinking game, Never Have I Ever, while sitting around a campfire or in a conversation circle at parties. Especially, the parties I'm hosting! It's best played with a mix of long time friends and newly established friends.
Never Have I Ever: Summer Fling
If you're not familiar with the game, here a quick review of it, which also can be found in the Wikipedia entry."The verbal game[1] is started with the players getting into a circle. Then, the first player says a simple statement starting with "Never have I ever". Anyone who at some point in their lives has done the action that the first player says, must drink.[2] Play then continues around the circle, and the next person makes a statement.[3][4]
An additional rule – uncommon, but beneficial to the game – is that if there is no one taking a drink, then the one who said the particular "Never have I ever…" must take a drink. This rule often forces the players to strategize more and makes for less disposable/pointless suggestions. So never have I ever: Summer Fling is perfect for me.
A further variation holds that whenever only one person is drinking, that person must give a detailed account of why they are drinking."
One of my first statements is "never have I ever had a summer fling". That generally gets one or two friends to drink, and usually is accompanied by a story or two. Mind you, I would rather not have that in a repertoire - never have I ever had a summer fling.
My dating has been one of extremes. Either I date a few times or for years on end until we break up. There's something fun about a clearly defined torrid love affair from beginning to end. If you know anything about me this is rather ironic. I shouldn't be able to say Never Have I Ever: Summer Fling.
I haven't had the opportunities needed for it, or rather I haven't created those opportunities. If I worked at a resort, or camp or even move to remote destination, that would be right conditions to alleviate - Never Have I Ever: Summer Fling.
And sure, I've had plenty of summer crushes, but none materialized into anything meaningful. And it's not from a lacking of trying, either! I would've loved a summer fling or two, especially after I hear some of the stories that recap the fun. But I'm dating an incredible woman now, and I'm north of 40 years old.
My opportunity and want to do that has passed. Besides, the WikiHow How to Have a Summer Fling wasn't invented yet for me to read. In fact, I'd rather would've been the person to author it!
What about you, Spaceship Earth? Have you had a summer fling(s)? Were they memorable? Do you dare to share with us? Comment below, then!
Until next time, be good like you should, and if you can't be good, be good at what you do!
