What is 4th of July All About?

I sat down to write the holiday edition with 4th of July on my mind. What is 4th of July all about? I obviously know from our history books that it's the declared day of independence. Beyond that there must more, so I did some digging. What is 4th of July All About? I bet you didn't know this, but the Philippines celebrates Republic Day on July 4th of every year! I'm half-Filipino so this was very interesting to find out. Here is the Wiki entry: The Philippines celebrates July 4 as its Republic Day to commemorate that day in 1946 when it ceased to be a U.S. territory and the United States officially recognized Philippine Independence.[30] July 4 was intentionally chosen by the United States because it corresponds to its Independence Day, and this day was observed in the Philippines as Independence Day until 1962. In 1964, the name of the July 4 holiday was changed to Republic Day. The fourth of July is about declaring independence, and the celebration of independe

Bastion of Bayne Journal

Entry 8, Day 348. Almost my anniversary for my move-in date here to #BastionofBayne - I'm excited and disappointed simultaneously. The first time I did my walk-through with my realtor, Julie, that my gut was telling I should buy this property. I still feel that excitement almost a year later. After I purchased the house, and walked in as the homeowner on 7/7/16, I was inspired! I'm adulting now! I'm a grip disappointed because even after all the sweat equity I've put in over the past year, there still yet so much more I want to accomplish. There were a few initial items I wanted to take care of aside from the usual forwarding of my address, etc. Name this address as a check-in on Facebook Select a motif for the entire house Create a mantra The reason for the check-in on FB is I've done this previously so why break precedence? The reason for the motif for the house is simple: It's the vision statement, like a corporation. If you have a motif,

Happy Father's Day 2017

I wanted to preface this post with the fact I'm not a father myself. I would gladly fulfill that role if need be, but I'm not currently. And I realize that everyone will exclaim that I have the best father ever. Well, my retort is to say I have the best father for me. What Father's Day Means To Me is to pause and give thanks to the man I proudly call my Dad. Being raised by Charles C Bayne was an interesting experience to say the least. As I innately knew that his love for his children, consequently me, would drive all his decisions about my upbringing. What Father's Day Means To Me Growing up I would ask my Dad all sorts of questions because he was the closest adult that I knew, and frankly, he knew (knows?) everything! And looking back, many of the things he taught me and said to me were ... genius. When I parrot any of his thousands of sayings, the listening audience either acknowledges the truth in it or accepts it as fact. I just didn't realize it at th

Carlos Warehouse Chronicle XXIV - Oil of Olay

One of my responsibilities of a FE (Front End) Supervisors is to answer radio requests from the Membership Desk. It's usually one of three: key flick, approval, or merchandise pick-up aka MPU. It's been a week now since the Oil of Olay Incident of 2017 , happened. There was a call from the Membership Desk for a MPU. I looked around and realized I was the closest, and most available FE Supervisor, so I answered the radio request with, "Copy that, Carlos en route." It was yet another busy day at Woodinville Costco, so when I arrived at the Membership Desk it was teeming with activity. I searched around for the MPU in the area I usually find it. I spied a bottle of Oil of Olay. I furrowed my brow as this is not a typical item that requires to be locked up in the Return To Vendor (RTV) Cage - yes, we use tons of acronyms to save time communicating. So I called out to confirm, while holding up the bottle. "Is this really the MPU?" I stated loudly but

Death of the Professional Photographer

In the early 2000's, I attempted several times to establish myself as a professional photographer. My friends and family were concerned with the developing technology on cameras on mobile phones would mean the death of the professional photographer . I even started off leveraging my photographic retouching skills that I had learned and practiced with my mentor, Juan Aguilera.   And so I attempted to grow of Keeping Digging Workshop , which was the first incarnation of photography, video, and music for several years. During those early years, the exponential pace at which mobile phones did to develop their camera technology, basically meant the death of the professional photographer - like myself.  Once I was playing a more active role with A Amore' Events & Entertainment , the role of photographer on events diminished. The demand for Master of Ceremonies (MC), Disc Jockey (DJ), Host, and Ordained Minister was more so than the professional photographer - at le
